Claretian Family on Solidarity and Mission

n Sasaima, Department of Cundinamarca, Colombia, from the 8th to the 12th of October, the Second Claretian Family Meeting of the MICLA on Solidarity and Mission took place. We gathered 53 participants from Canada to Patagonia.

We gathered 53 participants from Canada to Patagonia. Our main objective was to share the different projects that have been carried out from the perspective of JPIC in the different provinces: Canada-United States, the Antilles, Central America, Venezuela-Colombia, Colombia-Ecuador and San Jose del Sur with Chile, Peru and Brazil.

The most significant thing was to note that awareness-raising channels and concrete projects have been opened that respond to the crisis that our continent is experiencing with respect to the destruction of our Mother Earth. Special emphasis is mining extractivism, on the one hand illegal and ruthless and, on the other hand, with the complicity of national governments and their policies related to the exploitation of oil, gold and silver.

From the JPIC Spirituality centered on the Gospel, we had moments of prayer from the different cultures present in the encounter, recognizing our Mother Earth. We are committed to the defense of our Mother Earth and to continue promoting projects to make possible a healthy and respectful coexistence with our renewable resources.
